On August 13, 2016 the World Legends Hockey League celebrated its anniversary. One year ago on this day six countries – Russia, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Slovakia and Sweden – signed agreement about the new project creation.
Team France will be the seventh participant in the next season. General Secretary of the French Ice Hockey Federation and the IIHF 2017 WC Organizing Committee Eric Ropert told about new opportunities for the French Ice Hockey:
– The French Hockey Federation have been honored to be welcomed in the World Legends Hockey League. Hockey in France is every year improving and it’s great to be integrated this historic season for French hockey. Germany and France are hosting together the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship from 2017 May 5th to 21st. In Paris, in the all refurbished wonderful 14 000 seat AccorHotel Arena, it will be the first time since 1951. It is a great opportunity to increase the popularity of Ice Hockey in this typical Football oriented country. In the same movement, being accepted to the World Legends Hockey League with big traditional hockey countries is a very positive message for the hockey of our country.
