On November 6, 2015, the first preliminary round game of the 2015/16 World Legends Hockey League season will take place. Hartwall Arena in Helsinki will greet the teams of Finland and Sweden. The game will determine the first team in the final, which will take place next January at the Legends Park in Moscow.
The hockey legends playing for Sweden include Mats Näslund, Thomas Rundqvist, Anders Carlsson and many others. The host team’s roster is just as impressive, topped by Finland’s most popular player of all times Jari Kurri; the world’s absolute record holder for the number of matches played for the national team, Raimo Helminen; and the most successful player in the history of the Finnish SM-liiga, Janne Juhani Ojanen.
The second preliminary round game will take place on November 21 in Landshut between Germany and Russia. The third game will take place on November 29 in Jihlava, the Czech Republic, where the Czech team will play with Slovakia. The winners of the three matches, as well as the defeated team with the best results, will meet in Moscow in late January 2016 for the semifinals, finals and a bronze medal match.
